The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state has praised the efforts of the Nigerian military in the ongoing battle against insecurity in the North West region, particularly in eliminating bandits that have plagued the area. In a statement issued on Monday, Malam Yusuf Idris, the Zamfara APC publicity secretary, expressed the party’s full support for the military’s actions, noting that their prayers are with the gallant troops in the fight against enemies of the land.
The APC also expressed its support for President Bola Tinubu, commending his administration for providing the necessary resources for the military to effectively carry out operations in the region. The party also acknowledged the leadership of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for coordinating the operations that have led to significant progress in the fight against insecurity.
“We congratulate and commend the Nigerian military, in partnership with other security agencies operating in the northwest region, for the success they’ve achieved in eliminating bandits in the area,” the statement read. The APC further emphasized its alignment with President Tinubu, particularly for the continued support in providing the military with the means to succeed in the ongoing operations.
The statement also celebrated the notable success achieved under the leadership of the Tinubu administration, including the recent elimination of two notorious bandit leaders—Bello Turji’s son and brother, and Adamu Alero’s relatives. These eliminations were hailed as significant milestones in the fight against banditry in the region.
The APC pointed out that the military operation, known as Fansan Yamma, launched last year in Sokoto by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, in collaboration with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabi Musa, has been yielding positive results. One of the key successes of the operation includes the elimination of notorious bandit leader Halilu Sububu, along with several of his associates.
