The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of admissions into the law programme at Fountain University, Osogbo, following discrepancies in the institution’s admission process. The suspension, which took effect immediately, has raised concerns among prospective law students, leaving many in limbo regarding their academic future.
JAMB officials stated that the suspension was necessary to ensure compliance with the regulatory standards set for law programs in Nigerian universities. The decision was made after a review of the university’s admission procedures revealed irregularities that did not align with the guidelines established by the Nigerian Council of Legal Education (NCLE).
The suspension has prompted a wave of reactions from both students and educational stakeholders, with many questioning the impact on current and future law students. Fountain University, on the other hand, has assured that it is working closely with JAMB and other regulatory bodies to resolve the issue and ensure that all affected students will not be disadvantaged.
In light of the suspension, Fountain University has also promised to review its admission processes to meet the required standards. The institution has emphasized its commitment to upholding academic excellence and maintaining the credibility of its programs.
JAMB, however, reiterated that it would not compromise on the quality of education and adherence to set guidelines, especially for programs that are critical to national development, such as law. The board urged all universities to ensure that their admissions are transparent and meet the required accreditation standards
