The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has renewed the appointment of Engineer Adam Bukar Bababe as the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS). This extension comes as a recognition of Bababe’s remarkable leadership and transformative contributions to the agency during his first tenure. Bababe’s reappointment is set for an additional five years, solidifying his role in the continued development of BOGIS and the state’s geographic information management.

The announcement was made by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, who explained that the renewal aligns with Section 22(2) of the Borno State Geographic Information Service Law, 2019 (HA 2). This section allows for a second and final term of five years, subject to the approval of the Governor. With Zulum’s approval, Bababe’s position is assured for another five years, and this term will be his last, as per the governing law.

Governor Zulum commended Engineer Bababe for his dedication and the milestones achieved under his leadership at BOGIS. He praised Bababe’s work in ensuring the agency’s continued growth and success in managing the state’s geographical data, a vital aspect for development planning, infrastructure growth, and governance. The Governor noted, “I have approved the renewal of the appointment of the Executive Secretary, Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), for a second and final term of five years as recommended.”

In his congratulatory message, Zulum also tasked Bababe with the responsibility of building on the successes of his first term, urging him to further enhance the agency’s contributions to the state’s development. The Governor expressed confidence that Bababe’s expertise and leadership would continue to play a key role in the state’s advancement. “I task him to build on the gains made and consolidate the laudable achievements during his first tenure,” Zulum said.

Engineer Bababe’s leadership is seen as pivotal in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of geographic information services within the state. BOGIS plays a crucial role in the development of accurate, reliable geographic data that informs critical state decisions, particularly in areas such as urban planning, land allocation, and disaster management. Under Bababe’s guidance, the agency has made significant strides, improving services to the public and government agencies, and helping to chart Borno’s developmental path more efficiently.

Governor Zulum’s decision to renew Bababe’s tenure underscores the administration’s commitment to fostering excellence in governance and public service. It reflects the Governor’s approach to ensuring continuity in leadership and progress in critical state institutions. Bababe’s reappointment also serves as an encouragement for public servants in Borno State to strive for excellence, integrity, and transformative leadership in their respective roles.

With this renewed leadership, the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) is poised to continue its work in creating an efficient, modernized geographic information system that will be instrumental in the state’s long-term development and prosperity.
