The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to take an active stand against corruption in Nigeria. Speaking at the NYSC orientation camp, Olukoyede emphasized the vital role young Nigerians can play in the fight against corruption by becoming whistleblowers.
Olukoyede stressed that while the EFCC plays a critical role in investigating and prosecuting financial crimes, the general public, especially youths, should also be vigilant and report any corrupt practices they witness. He noted that corruption undermines national development, and the fight against it requires collective effort from all segments of society.
The EFCC boss highlighted that with the right tools and channels in place, every Nigerian can contribute to exposing fraud and holding perpetrators accountable. He encouraged corps members to be courageous in reporting any financial crimes, assuring them of the confidentiality and protection of whistleblowers.
The EFCC’s call to action resonates with the ongoing efforts to create a more transparent and accountable society, where corruption is not tolerated. As future leaders, Olukoyede believes that the NYSC corps members are in an ideal position to influence positive change and help shape Nigeria’s fight against corruption.
