The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on corps members serving in Zamfara State to contribute meaningfully to their host communities. During a recent visit to the orientation camp, the DG encouraged them to embrace the values of service, hard work, and dedication while making a positive impact throughout their one-year national service.
He emphasized that the NYSC scheme provides a unique opportunity for young graduates to gain practical experience, promote unity, and drive community development. He urged corps members to engage in projects that address local challenges, such as education, healthcare, and skill acquisition programs, ensuring that their presence leaves a lasting legacy.
The DG also reassured corps members of the NYSC’s commitment to their safety and welfare, acknowledging security concerns in Zamfara. He stated that the government and security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure their protection, advising them to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines.
Furthermore, he encouraged them to take advantage of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to acquire vocational skills that will prepare them for self-reliance after service. He noted that in today’s economy, developing entrepreneurial skills is crucial in securing financial independence.
Corps members expressed appreciation for the DG’s visit, describing his words as motivating and reassuring. Many pledged to make meaningful contributions in their places of primary assignment and actively participate in community-driven initiatives.
Stakeholders have commended the NYSC for its continued emphasis on youth empowerment, leadership development, and national unity, urging corps members to uphold the values of diligence and patriotism.
