32-year-old Timileyin Ajayi has been remanded at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command after confessing to the gruesome killing of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, whose severed head was found in his possession. Ajayi admitted to killing Adaidu, claiming that she was cheating on him with other men, which he discovered through her phone conversations.
In an interview with Channels TV, Ajayi stated, “I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned. It happened on that day, and it happened. She was cheating. She hides most of the things from me. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided.”
He expressed no remorse for the murder, saying he believed in reciprocity in relationships: “If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person.”
However, Salome Adaidu’s family has denied any relationship between her and Ajayi, describing him as a stranger. Esther Adaidu, Salome’s elder sister, demanded justice for the brutal murder of her sibling. She stated, “This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him. We have never seen him until we were called up to tell us that this guy murdered and dismembered our sister. I demand and need justice to be served.”
Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaidu, expressed the family’s grief over the horrific dismemberment, revealing that her body had been cut into more than 50 pieces and placed in several plastic bags. “He has succeeded in destroying our daughter. Not ordinary killing, he butchered her into pieces,” he said.
The late Salome Adaidu was serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Nicon Insurance in Abuja before her tragic death. She had visited Ajayi at his residence in the Papalana axis, New Karshi in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The Nasarawa State Police have vowed to ensure justice for the victim. SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that Ajayi will be prosecuted in court. “This suspect will not be spared if found wanting,” Nansel assured the public.
